                                Importance of Baby Sleep

Babies are the cutest creatures in the world. They can be very enjoyable to spend time with and a lot of times, their energy is just bursting that you tend to be influenced by how bubbly they are. But this is not the case if your baby won’t sleep. You may also have heard some mothers asking “why my baby won't sleep” type of questions. If this is the case that your newborn has problems in sleeping, occurring most if the times, then you must seek advice from your pediatrician the soonest possible time and have your baby checked.

There are a lot of reasons why a new born won't sleep or can’t sleep at all. Aside from the common reason that the baby is hungry, there may be other underlying health issues that your baby has that can only be diagnosed by doctors. That is why when it comes to sleeping of your baby, anything that is already not normal should always be consulted with your pediatrician right away.

Sleep is very important for babies. Aside from the milk they drink, just like us adults, sleep is one of their main sources of energy. Sleep allows your baby’s body to recuperate and regenerate. As important as food, sleep helps humans to develop and maintain overall health, body and mind well-being. It is also very important that it is not just through sleeping alone. Babies should be given the needed time to sleep. Take note that different infant ages correspond to varying number of hours needed for them to sleep. For example, a newborn baby needs 16 to 20 hours of sleep daily, a baby who is 6 weeks old needs 15 to 16 hours of sleep every day, a baby who is 6 month old needs 11 hours plus naps in between sleeps and so on. As the baby gets older, the amount of time he needs for sleeping decreases. This is only logical since he will already be devoting some of his time to other activities like playing, recognizing and learning the things around him, learning to crawl and walk and a lot more. There are guidelines as to the amount of sleep a baby needs. You may ask your pediatrician or you may also try to check online. Remember also that babies have different sleeping patterns and they vary individually and also depending on the age of the baby.

It is very important for babies to sleep according to the number of hours their bodies need. If in case your new born won't sleep and it happens all the time, do not just rely on your instincts.
